Episode 9: Early Show

INT. STUDIO

Baralai sat in his blue director's chair alongside Steiner and Beatrix who sat in green lawn chairs.

BARALAI: And now for this week's castoffs from The Amazing Final Fantasy Race, here are Steiner and Beatrix.

BEATRIX: Pleasure to be here.

BARALAI: It's really not. But let's get right into it because I have so many questions for you! You two did SO well this leg and came in last, while other teams didn't do as well and survived. What happened?

STEINER: We were not even close to the group after going in the wrong direction for so long. We checked in over five hours after those two ladies.

BARALAI: What made you go the wrong way for so long? Lani and Amarant were able to turn around rather quickly.

STEINER: Those two bounty hunters tricked us into thinking the clue was only moments away and we had to continue onward and-

BEATRIX: By that he means that he was constantly arguing that they must have obtained the clue and want us to think that they did not obtain the clue. I often wanted to turn around, but he insisted the clue was coming up soon. Finally after a long debate with himself over "but they know that I know that they know that I know that I'm incompetent" he finally decided to turn around.

BARALAI: That's pretty harsh to refer to your boyfriend as incompetent.

STEINER: She does not mean that. She is only making a direct quote of me.

BARALAI: I see. Well, incompetence aside, what was wrong with those maps you obtained?

BEATRIX: After a bit of a discussion with the Amazing Staff as well as the people of Marrymore, it turned out the maps were printed backwards because of a transparency issue. The text was the correct direction because it was on a different transparency.

BARALAI: And they still lined up with the city locations?

BEATRIX: It certainly appeared that way. Of course, if I would have paid more attention to a location called Yo'ster Island, I would have noticed a city in the middle of the ocean according to the map.

BARALAI: That's too bad. I was rooting for you two.

STEINER: Is that so?

BARALAI: Not really, but it does suck.

STEINER: Indeed.

BARALAI: You two certainly had your rough road this race. The driving involved in New York, the argument you two had in the Kingdom Hearts Galaxy, the roadblock in Marrymore, the Zeal encounter with the Nu-

STEINER: Oh ho I'll venture that we are out of time and cannot remind my Beatrix-dear of that dreadful creature.

BARALAI: We actually have a couple minutes left...

NOOJ (O.S.): Ha ha ha. I like that armored man. He wants this show to end as much as I do!

BARALAI: Oh shush. We're almost done.

NOOJ (O.S.): No, we're done. I turned the cameras off.

BARALAI: Oh... Well, thank you two for coming.

BEATRIX: It was a pleasure.

STEINER: Indeed.

BEATRIX: Oh. And just so you know: we're rooting for Yuna and Rikku.

STEINER: Both for different reasons, but yes.

BEATRIX: That's enough talking, mister. Let's go home.

STEINER: Yes, ma'am!
