Tifa is one crazy driver. She didn't want to hit any of the monsters, so
she swerved often. I think I have whiplash. Still, her car was
extremely fast, so we reached Coral in no time. Tifa and I got out of the
car and headed directly to the skyway thing. The man behind the counter
wasn't paying attention, so Tifa and I just snuck on and rode toward the Gold
Saucer. I was bored. I needed conversation.
"Hey, Tifa," I said, "have you ever, uhh, have
you ever been to the Gold Saucer?"
I knew she had. It was all I could think of.
Still, I awaited her answer. She spun around from the window she was
looking out of, and pointed directly toward her chest. Wait, no, she was
pointing at her 'I love the Gold Saucer' shirt. I read her shirt
slowly. Very slowly. Then she spun back around and looked out the
window again. I looked as well. We were starting to pass over the
Gold Saucer and were nearing the station when suddenly, the cables holding up
our skyway thingy snapped and we went plunging down toward one of the buildings
in the Gold Saucer. I was hoping we would break through the roof of the
first saucer shaped room and it would be all over, but it didn't happen that
way. Instead, we hit the roof hard, while upside-down. Tifa and I
hit the roof and became slightly disoriented for the next couple of
moments. Then I decided to open the door so we could escape, but when I
finally pulled the door open, the skyway began to slide off the roof. It's
so lucky I can fly. I grabbed Tifa around the waist and flew out the open
door. The skyway fell onto the tracks of the Speed Square ride, broke
through them, and continued to fall until it was out of sight. I just
saved Tifa's life. I flew back to the roof top and we found a small hole
in the roof that we could fit through. We climbed into the Blackjack
Square, where five or six security guards helped us down while constantly
praising my heroic efforts. Tifa acted like she was fine, but when she
tried to walk, she found that her legs were too weak to support her. The
security guards left to find out how the cables snapped while I walked Tifa over
to the nearest blackjack table and we each bought five hundred gil worth of
playing chips.
We each put in the minimum bet of fifteen and received our
cards. The dealer had a ten showing. Tifa had a queen and a nine,
and I had a two and another two. Tifa dared me to split, so I did.
It was things like this that made me lose lots of my money. Tifa kept
winning, and I kept losing. Then a security guard came up to us.
"Excuse me," he said while tapping Tifa on the
shoulder, "can I see some identification?"
If memory serves me right, Tifa was still only twenty; a year
from the legal drinking or gambling age. Tifa's face became extremely
red. Before she could pull out her I.D. I pointed across the room.
"What is that?" I asked him.
"Oh, that," he responded. "That is the
thing responsible for the broken cables. Come to think of it, it's also
the thing responsible for the fire in the Event Square. They're taking it
to the Gold Saucer prison."
Is anybody surprised that there were two security guards
dragging Mother across the square? I'm not.
It was Tiffany! She did it, not me! Ask Sephy,
over there. He's the one with the underage girl. He's the one that
made me, I mean Tiffany, do it!
Now Mother, Tifa, and myself were all being escorted to
Gold Saucer prison. We sat in the room with the couch and I asked Mother
the all important question. What happened? And Mother told her
story...
