"How confident are you in fighting against guns Sephola?" Tseng asked
while he loaded his duel pistols. "Can you dodge bullets?"
I put my Masamune on the ground and walked toward all
four Turks. I cracked my knuckles and my neck. "I decided I like you three
too much to kill you. I think I'll just beat the shit out of you."
"I'm all up for that," Reno said. "Just
keep in mind, I'm gonna be behind Rude the whole time."
"Up for what?" I asked.
In response, all four Turks threw down their weapons
and circled me. I decided a brawl like this would be better for me if I took of
my coat, so I threw it aside and squared off with Tseng in front of me. The
other three Turks were swarming behind me, ready to grab me and hold me while
Tseng pounded on me, but I was ready for them. For the time being, Tseng was my
opponent and my main threat. After that, all I'd need to do was take down Rude,
and I'd be home free. It would be a tough fight though. I haven't been in
soldier for so long, and these are four fresh Turks.
Tseng charged at me with a quick punch at my face.
There wasn't much power behind it, so it was an obvious feint, but I dodged it
nonetheless. Sure enough he punched with his other hand under his outstretched
as he passed by me. I couldn't even see that he'd punched, so the hit was hard
and hurt like hell, hitting me right below the ribs. Still, I had an advantage
on him at this point. Whenever I got into fights, people would always take
advantage of my long hair, and now fighting another man with long hair, I knew
how to fight dirty.
As he passed by with his punch combo, I grabbed his
long flowing hair and yanked him down and kicked out his legs, putting him down
on the ground. Luckily, I saw a new attacker coming for me at that time. Elena
was charging at me with a wild swing building up beside her. She pulled her fist
back and fired her knock out punch just as I lifted Tseng back up by his hair to
take the hit for me. He took it right in the eye, and he was out for the count.
I let go of Tseng and let him slump to the ground. Elena did not react as
expected though. I thought she might break down from socking out her boss, but
she was finally starting to look like a true Turk. She stood her ground and
squared off with me without even a glance at the fallen Tseng.
Despite her seemingly Turk-like fighting attitude, she
still fought like a girl, so taking her down was not much of a problem. She
immediately ran in and attempted to knee me in the you-know-where, so I simply
caught her leg, threw my own leg out, and tried to take her other leg down, but
she seemed to be ready for that too, and took the leg she was balancing on up in
a second attempt to knee me. It was slow and off-balance, so it was easy to
catch yet another leg. I'm sure it looked mighty awkward, me holding Elena up
with her shins against my chest. She pulled herself forward, putting her face
only inches from mine.
"Sorry Sephicles," Elena whispered in my ear.
We'll see you later."
She leaned in and kissed me on the nose, just before
Rude's fist hit the side of my face. And suddenly everything went dark.
Sephy... Sephy!! Good morning Sephy! Come on, sleepy head! Get up!
I sat up. I was some room I'd never been in before,
sleeping in a bed I'm sure I hadn't been in. It was a tiny room with gray walls
and a poster of two monkeys fighting.
Ah, Leene's Bell makes such beautiful music!
"Mother? Where the hell are you?" I said
aloud. "And why're you quoting Chrono Trigger?"
"Shhh!" A girl's voice said. The voice
belonged to none other than Aeris, and for some odd reason, she was laying next
to me in this tiny bed, which I'd just realized was a bunk bed. I'm not sure
exactly how clothed Aeris was, but when she sat up beside me, I couldn't tell if
there was anything behind the bed sheet she held to her chest or not. I did know
for sure that I was at least without a shirt, and highly afraid to look under
the sheet and check my lower half.
"What's going on?" I asked Aeris.
"Didn't you hear her before?" A new voice
from the bunk below me yelled in a hushed voice. My day was certainly shaping up
because the new voice belonged to Tifa, and while I had no clue what was
happening, there was a large part of me that didn't care and just wanted to see
what this solitude would amount to. "We're in prison," Tifa said to me
as she slid out from her lower bunk and peeked over the top to ours.
"Things really went downhill after Rude decked you. Barret, Aeris, and I
teamed up to try to take down the other three Turks, but they overwhelmed us. We
could've won, but Dyne's been wiggin' out ever since he blew the head off the
Proud Clod 4, and Barret's too caught up with Marlene, so his head wasn't quite
in the fight. So it was basically me versus the three Turks."
"Hey!" Aeris protested.
"Oh, yeah, 'cause we all know you're great in a
brawl," Tifa said mockingly. Aeris responded by scrunching her face at Tifa,
but Tifa ignored her and continued explaining our situation. "So they've
put all of us in this here newly constructed prison out on some island in the
middle of nowhere for some sort of treason claim. They're searching the whole
planet for everybody who opposes Shin-Ra and throwing them in here. And by the
way, by opposes Shin-Ra, I mean anybody that counts and might actually be able
to foil Shin-Ra's plans. I think most of Avalanche is in here, along with Reeve
and Dyne. I think the only ones that haven't been caught yet are Cid, Cloud, and
Vincent."
"Wonderful," I said. "So where's
Mother?"
"Jenova's at Shin-Ra HQ. They took her there so
Hojo could do tests or something. All in all, I think they're going to be making
her a fireproof room and just letting her roam. They don't really need her, but
they heard about the Sapphire Weapon thing, so they're just keeping
isolated."
"That's a good thing," I said.
"You don't care that your mommy's in prison?"
Aeris asked me.
"Not really. It's for the best. And besides, I'm
in prison too, so I could really care less about Mother right now."
How rude! You know, I can still hear you thinking!
By the way, in case you were wondering, I'm doing great! I get to watch Sonic
nonstop WITH commercials! It's so cool! And Edwardo and Tiffany are with me.
Edwardo says to say 'grrr.' And I can still bug you from a distance!
"It's like heaven," I said sarcastically.
"It gets worse," Tifa said. "If you can,
try not to disturb Reeve. He's gone a little mental and keeps talking to himself
in the Cait Sith voice. Oh, and don't mind Aeris. She doesn't leave the bed
much."
"Boy, I must've been out for quite a while if you
already know all these things about this place. And why can't Aeris leave the
bed?"
"You were out for five days," Tifa said.
"The guards made sure to keep you down for an extra amount of time, just in
case. And Aeris can't leave because she's a genius. There's a small slot under
what looks like the door in here, but the door kinda blends in to the walls. She
thought she could reach something by taking off her dress and lassoing it, but a
guard walked by and got his foot caught on the dress, and he kicked it down the
hallway."
"So she's stuck in bra and panties?" I asked cheerfully.
"Aeris? Bra and panties? If only. She hasn't worn
those for ages. Try hiking boots and hair ribbon."
I looked back at Aeris, who just smiled and shrugged.
"Bathroom?" I asked.
"Back there," Tifa said, pointing to a
sliding door in the side of our tiny room. Inside was a toilet and a sink.
"So you're saying this is paradise then?" I
said. I fell back and plopped back on the pillow. Wind rushed from under me,
briefly blowing the sheet out of Aeris's grip. "Not bad at all," I
said, shutting my eyes and going back to sleep. |
